< Russian chips in smart meters
Mikron Group and NIIET JSC (part of the Element Group), leading Russian developers and manufacturers of microelectronics, signed cooperation agreements with BULAT, a fast-growing Russian design center that develops equipment for the digital economy.
The agreements are aimed at using both existing and promising domestic electronic components in equipment for the rapidly expanding IoT market, in particular, electricity, heat, and gas metering devices.
The partners will focus on improving the localization of existing lines of equipment developed by BULAT, namely BULAT-32 smart meters, with the products of the Mikron Group, including ECBs, ECB-based boards, and modules, as well as creating new domestic products based on K1921 series microcontrollers by NIIET JSC.
In the demo zone of the VI Microelectronics 2020 International Forum (September 28 - October 3, 2020, Yalta), a prototype of the BULAT-24 smart energy meter was presented. The products are based on the domestic K1921VM01T microcontroller.
“Reducing dependence on foreign products is relevant for all segments of the digital infrastructure. One of the strategic goals for the industry is to refocus on domestic developers. And we welcome such cooperation,” Artur Shipiguzov, Export Director of Mikron JSC, said.
BULAT is a Russian company that develops and manufactures telecommunications and IT equipment, as well as IoT solutions. The company is part of the Avtomatika Concern, which represents the radioelectronics cluster of the ROSTEC Group, and is a subsidiary of Rostelecom PJSC. The company is a partner of the Skolkovo Innovation Center and operates there its own R&D center.
Mikron Group is the largest manufacturer and exporter of microelectronics in Russia, a center of expertise, and a Russian technological leader in the semiconductor industry. Mikron produces more than 700 part types, including integrated circuits for secure storage media, ID, payment, and transport documents, power management, and RFID devices for various sectors of the digital economy.
